Privacy policy

Last updated: 19 October 2026

This policy explains what data MatchDay Pulse (the Android and iOS app and the website at matchdaypulse.mahmoudaziz.dev) collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have.

Who we are

MatchDay Pulse is run by Mahmoud Aziz, an independent developer based in Lebanon, who is the data controller for the data described here. Contact: mahmoudaziz1993@gmail.com.

Data we collect

  • Account data. When you sign in (email and password, or Google), we receive your email address, display name and profile photo from Firebase Authentication. You can also upload your own profile photo.
  • Preferences. The teams, competitions and players you follow, notification rules, news interests, app settings (such as language and theme), your country, and match poll votes. These sync your experience across devices.
  • Device and notification data. A push notification token and basic device details (platform, app version) so we can send the alerts you asked for, plus a record of the notifications sent to you.
  • Support requests. When you contact us from the app or website, we store your message, optional email address, app version and device diagnostics (device model, OS version, screen size, locale). If you choose to attach app logs, we store those too; they are redacted on your device before sending.
  • Usage and crash data. The mobile app uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, which collect app interactions, device information, an app instance ID and crash reports, so we can understand how the app is used and fix problems.
  • Advertising data. The mobile app shows ads through Google AdMob. Google may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address, device information and ad interactions to serve, measure and (if you consent) personalise ads.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts or payment details.

How we use it

  • To provide the service: your account, followed teams, live scores, news and notifications.
  • To answer support requests and fix bugs.
  • To understand usage, keep the service secure and improve it.
  • To show ads that keep the app free.

Legal bases (for users in the EEA and UK): performance of our agreement with you (account, preferences, notifications, support), our legitimate interests (security, analytics, crash reporting, non-personalised ads), and your consent (personalised ads and, where required, analytics). You can withdraw consent at any time.

Advertising and consent

In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent through Google's consent message before personalised ads are shown. If you decline, you may still see non-personalised ads, which are based on context rather than your profile. You can change your choice from the app's privacy settings.

On iOS, the app asks for permission before accessing your advertising identifier (App Tracking Transparency). On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings. To learn how Google uses data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers that run parts of MatchDay Pulse:

  • Google (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Messaging, Analytics, Crashlytics, and AdMob)
  • Render, which hosts our servers and database (Frankfurt, Germany)
  • Vercel, which hosts this website
  • Resend, which delivers support emails

Some of these providers process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, they do so under appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. We may also disclose data if the law requires it.

On the website

The website uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and remember settings such as theme and language. It does not use advertising or analytics cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep account data and preferences while your account exists. Support requests are kept for as long as needed to handle them and then for up to 24 months. Analytics and crash data are kept by Google according to its retention settings (up to 14 months for analytics). When you delete your account, we delete your account data, preferences, devices and notification history; support requests are unlinked from you.

Your rights and deleting your account

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, and to object to or restrict how we use it. You can delete your account and its data at any time in the app under Settings → Delete account. For any other request, or if you can no longer sign in, email mahmoudaziz1993@gmail.com from the address on your account. We will reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

MatchDay Pulse is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and limit who can access it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. We will change the date at the top, and for significant changes we will let you know in the app.
